My new computer setup

Long time no write... I'm so excited: I bought a new computer that is more up to date. Got the machine up and running on Friday. Specs as follows: Processor: AMD 64 X2 4600+ 2.4ghz 2x512kb L2 Motherboard: Abit AN52 Memory: 2gb of DDR2 800mhz Video card: Palit Geforce 8600GT Sonic 256mb Hard disk: 320gb Western Digital SATA2 HD Case: Compucase 6C29B Rest of the stuff is from my old computer (sound card and one of the IDE hard drives) Performance increase from my old computer is just stunning... For example, working with Buzz is so much easier now because the VST instruments aren't taking up so much CPU time like before. Currently I have a song in the works with about 14 VSTi's (pretty CPU intensive ones too) and there's no sign of any kind of stuttering yet. CPU usage is at about 60% on the other core (the other one just sits there idling because Buzz isn't multiprocessor aware as far as I know) None of these instruments exceed 10% in cpu usage individually so I think that's pretty damn good. Well, this probably means that there's going to be a bunch of new songs from me in the next few weeks, my inspiration is at an all time high :D

Okay, here's something I've worked on for a few weeks. It's nothing really epic but still a nice little hard trance-ish tune featuring some dialogue samples from the X-Files TV series. Back in da house

A week ago I finally got a new internet connection, proper ADSL this time (1024/512 for now), none of that HomePNA crap. Had some trouble getting it working properly, though. The reason was the ADSL modem I had. It just wouldn't stay connected for a period longer than 15 minutes. After christmas on Thursday, I got a PCI ADSL card from a friend of mine. Eventually, after installing the XP drivers for the card, the connection was ready to go and I haven't had any problems since then. I'm still going to try and see if I can put up some new music up for download, can't promise anything, though. It's been too long since I last released anything (over 7 months, that's probably way too long already)

Crap. Internet connection down again.

   I hate situations like this. My home internet connection has been non-functional for almost a week now. All I can say is: HomePNA sucks big fat donkey **** "%/"¤%#¤%. The ONLY plus side here is that I can actually concentrate on making music but I can't put anything online until it's fixed. And at this rate it seems to never happen. I'd REALLY like to fix it myself if I only had access to the place in the cellar where the internet equipment is located, but that's not going to happen. I just have to sit around and wait for the nice ISP people to come and do it.
OK I admit it: I just can't live without my 'net connection. (Mainly because I'm paying for it and paying for something that doesn't work feels like a big waste of money)

Woohoo! I have finally gotten enough inspiration to start working on some stuff.. First up is a bootleg remix of Yilmaz Altanhan's Eighties. A bit groovier progressive pumping featuring some guitars. How's that? :D

Just today, all of a sudden, my internet connection is functioning as normal, thus I can upload files at the usual speed again. Whee! o/

Internet woes...

I just recently discovered that my internet connection is acting strangely... Downloading seems to work just fine but the upload bandwidth is totally clogged up, I can only send at about 3kb/sec and no more than that. This is really pissing me off, as I won't be able to upload any of my music or mixes online. I keep hoping it's just a temporary glitch, and not something done by the ISP. I have a HomePNA connection (urgh, blech, yuck) so I'm pretty much used to this kind of crap. As soon as my uploading is working again (I'm losing my hope of that ever happening, perhaps I should call the ISP tech support), I'll try to get around to putting up some stuff on my profile page.

Well well, I finally registered here... It was recommended to me by my friend Taleamus, so here I am. Seems like a great way to find new contacts and also share my music to a wider audience (in theory, at least  ) I intend to put up links to some high quality (256kbps mp3, at least) version of my tracks here in a little bit. Perhaps also a fancy little flash player for quicker song previews.
