Last Friday, April the 28th 2006, was my favorite club anniversary and I just have to be there.
3 of Jakarta, Indonesian (that’s where I live, incase you didn’t know that) famous Dj are there and 2 great Mc also there. There's Dj Rommy who won last year best set, Dj Anton who have his own loyal crowd (hehehe me...one of them) and Dj Ai Moonchild. The place is fit for 1000 pax but that nite there were about 1600 pax and another 600 of them couldn't get it coz...well too pack.
Anton, Rommy and Ai are some of the Dj that can make me dance all nite...literally, usually I just hang out at the bar corner and enjoy the music but those 3.....damn they are good plus they have 2 famous club MC to back them up, Lex D'mc and my favorite MC-Q.
I went up to the Dj Booth to greet Ai and MC-Q, thank them for a great set and also to tell them about dancestate.com, which they find very interesting (not that I’m being a suck-up to the admin here but I do really like Dancestate.com) its just too bad I forgot to bring my digital camera, all I got was my pda and as u probably know pda quality picture sucks.
After a long conversation and bothering MC-Q while his working, he suggested me, why don’t I become a booking agent for local and international dj and I said hmmm that’s interesting….and if I wanna actually do that …. I need a lotta help, from gathering contact number of dj's and other agency…So does anybody wanna help? Maybe start with a name…..What does a proper nice and catchy name that we should use? I'm very much open for suggestion. Thanks

Ps: sorry if my english is a bit rough

And the website...off course... that is one of my plan, im gonna get it live when the local dj are playin at a club.
One more thing, wish me luck if the deal that we are making with the investor and Fresh Management (PVD) work out well, my event organizer are going to host one of the biggest event here in Jakarta and it really going to help on my networking and blalalalala..hehehe, hey wait...hmm maybe dancestate.com and us can work together create a T-shirt or sumthing for the event,....hmmm what do u think Hooje?
The picture for the pda ...errrmmm i have deleted but i ask a friend of mine who manage that club for the pictures for that event and for sure i will post it here

Oops, just read Goose's reply, good call man - and yeah, it kinda sucks that most of the stuff in the "scene" is based on "who you know" rather than "what you know".

I guess it's like that for most things though...

That's awesome, Dayz! The clubnight sounded v good - 600 people couldn't get in to the club!?

For an international DJ agency - I put a few ideas for a name on your page... what you should have is a website where club owners can log in and hear an example set that the DJ would play, so they know what they would sound like. That way you can have the pro Dj's that everyone knows and the smaller unknown DJ's - so if the smaller unknown DJ's have a good set, you never know, they might get booked!

Nice job for telling them about dancestate.com - we gotta get t-shirts etc made up for events like this. Can you put up the PDA pics anyway? I know they won't be v. high quality, but it'll still be cool to get an idea of what it was like!

Have you ever done any work within the scene before? If not I would suggest starting out a little smaller than starting a booking agency. Maybe help a respected local promoter promote a club night or party. That would be a great way to learn how things work in the scene and meet some of the people you would need to know. It's all about networking, contacts and politics.

Good luck!
